Calculator for College Funding
This calculator will allow you to calculate how much money you should be investing on a monthly basis to help pay for college tuition and fees by the time your child starts college. You can choose from In-State or Out-of-State, Resident or Commuter, and Public or Private. The calculator then adjusts the estimated cost based on your selections. The calculator adjusts the cost of college based upon your personal inflation rate.
Projected Total Four-Year Costs of Attending College: Four-year costs are based on The College Board’s Annual Survey of Colleges for the 2002-2003 school year and include tuition, room and board (adjusted by “resident”/”commuter” selection), transportation, books, and other expenses. These costs are based on your chosen annual inflation rate and are weighted according to enrollment. The assumed annual return on investment of 8% is assumed, but it does not represent any specific security. The calculator assumes that the child will not make any additional earnings or investments once he/she starts school. Also, the calculations assume that the investments are made at each beginning of each school school year.
